Currently, 4,653 active Ethereum nodes are managed by different centralized web providers. The big talking point and now part of new trends these days is that three cloud providers account for two-thirds of those 4,653 Ethereum nodes.

According cryptographic analysis platform Messari“Top three cloud providers are responsible for 69% of the 65% of @Ethereum nodes hosted in data centers. Of the estimated 95% of @Solana nodes hosted in data centers, 72% are hosted with the same providers cloud than @Ethereum”.

This special report shared by Messari clearly shows that Ethereum and Solana blockchain nodes are centralized to a large extent by the three major cloud providers.

According to data shared by Messari, three major cloud providers are responsible for 69% of the 65% of Ethereum nodes hosted in data centers. Additionally, the same three cloud providers are responsible for 72% of the 95% of Solana nodes hosted in data centers.

Analysis of this tweet and the image shared by Messari tells us that Amazon Web Service is responsible for 50% of the nodes hosted on the Ethereum Main network. Besides Amazon, the other two major cloud providers, Hetzner and OVH, are responsible for 15% and 4% of hosted nodes, respectively.

The same goes for Solana Hosted nodes. Hetzner accounts for 42% of hosted Solana nodes. OVH takes second place with 26%, and AWS takes 3% of the total Solana nodes hosted.

Decentralization of cryptography is a must

The current situation of 3 cloud providers acquiring two-thirds of Ethereum nodes indicates that crypto needs to decentralize. Currently, many companies favor blockchain centralization. Digital businesses must clearly understand that decentralization is crucial to protect Ethernodes from central points of failure.

Even though geographic centralization is a massive problem, no measures are taken for the same. The United States and Germany account for 60% of Ethereum distributed globally.

With the increase in geographic centralization and nodes, you can expect a greater focus on decentralizing blockchain networks. As blockchain networks like Ethereum and Solana face many risks, other crypto analytics platforms can share strong messages like this to address these issues.

It is crucial to stop full centralization because it exposes the Ethernodes to central points of failure. We will have to wait and watch to see what steps will be taken to reduce centralization.
