While Ethereum (ETH) being down almost 40% against Bitcoin (BTC) may worry ETH traders, members of the crypto community on Twitter shared their views on the possibility that the smart contract platform might eventually overtake the king of crypto assets.

On Twitter, the Cointelegraph Social Team asked the crypto community to share their thoughts on whether Ethereum can eventually overtake Bitcoin. From predicting it would happen in 2030 to a firm no, community members offered a variety of responses.

According to Jesus Crypto, it is possible that ETH will overtake BTC in 2030. While the Twitter user think it will be very difficult, upcoming move to proof-of-stake (PoS) could play a role in ETH’s rise to the throne in ten years.

Calling Bitcoin a dinosaur, Twitter user WakeNBakeTrades also believes Ethereum can outperform top crypto with the help of Polygon’s (MATIC) scaling. They tweeted that:

On the other hand, Rahul Singh argued that it will never happen, pointing that BTC is digital gold while ETH is the second iteration of the internet. Singh noted that there are many differences between the value of digital assets and that of digital software. Twitter user CyberKingK agreed with the sentiment and tweeted:

Bob Shiby too weighed on the subject saying that “there is plenty of room for both”. The Twitter user noted that he would be hesitant to decide and would wait for new developments in Bitcoin while acknowledging that there are many tokens dependent on Ethereum availability.
